Devra Hutchinson has served as the SIDS Coordinator since 2002. Devra ensures coordination, mandated follow-up and reconciliation of Alameda County SIDS cases, and conducts Risk Reduction Awareness activities in accordance with the Health and Safety Code, Chapter 268, Statutes of 1991. Historical SIDS mandates ensure that families and communities are provided with SIDS information and education to include SIDS Risk Reduction Awareness and Infant Safe Sleep practices. A native of Oakland, California and graduate of Castlemont High School, Ms. Hutchinson holds a BA in Psychology from Fisk University, Nashville, Tennessee and a MPA from the University of San Francisco.

Publications: Nationally, the publication, Keeping the Faith, Alameda Co. CA, is posted on the website of the National Center for Cultural Competence, Gerogetown University, Washington, DC, as a promising best practice model in addressing Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and Other Infant Death.
